Our growing plants.

 Look at our seedlings grow. We only planted them last week.

They are growing very fast. We know that plants need water and sunlight to grow.

So we are watering them every day and we put them in a place that gets lots of sunlight.

Today we read in our text that plants use sunlight to make their own food.

Our next question is

How do plants use sunlight to make their own food?

The Spider in the Shower

 We read the story-'The Spider in the Shower.' Then Whaea Annie showed us how to create spiders using modelling clay. It was so much fun.

The Winter Bear

 Whaea Annie read The Winter Bear story. We loved the beautiful watercolour & ink illustrations of Winter landscapes. We created our own Winter landscape pictures. We used dye washes for the background. To create  the Winter trees, we used a straw to blow black paint over our background.

Summary Charts

In reading we are learning to make connections to our prior knowledge to help us to identify and summarise the main ideas in our text.

To support our thinking about the main ideas in a text and to help us make

connections between ideas, we have been learning to use a summary chart.

Here are the Ruru group completing a group summary chart to record their

main ideas about NZ birds.

They are using a shared doc for the first time to share their

ideas about their chosen bird.

Term 2 Week 1 - Distance Learning

Here are some examples of the work that students have completed as part of our online distance learning.
Every day the students read sets of high frequency words from an online learning site.
They are working on reading with accuracy and confidence.
Here is Rawiri reading words at the Purple Level. Level 19-20.
Listen to the way he is trying to sound out the harder words. He is not giving up.
